Silas Valentine, a former Christian pastor, shares some of his journey of leaving Christianity and letting go of believing in God.
It is who we believe that we are, the identity that we have taken on, that prevents us from seeing who we truly are.
In this latest addition to our Stories with Silas series, Silas Valentine playfully illustrates the identity crisis that mankind has been facing for ages through the story of a dog believing it is a squirrel. No matter how hard this dog tries, it can never quite measure up to the other squirrels: it can't climb trees as fast, collect acorns as easy, or jump from branch to branch. This is because it attempting to be something that it is not.
Just like the dog, humanity has faced this same false identity crisis. A man believing he is a mere man, a temporal being, will always fail to be like God. But what happens when he realizes this is not who he truly is?
